Description
When people think of Martin guitars, they usually think of some of the world’s most beautiful acoustic six-strings. They also believe in high prices. Despite popular belief, the brand has a number of more affordable guitars in its lineup, and you can rest assured that they provide the best bang for your buck. The Backpacker model, a travel-sized six-string with a unique design, a classic sound, and a reasonable price, is one of the greatest inexpensive Martin guitars. We took it for a test drive, and these are our thoughts.
The Backpacker delivers the goods in style when it comes to the most crucial feature – sound. The sound is akin to a banjo, as you might expect given its small size, yet it’s nonetheless powerful and booming because of the mahogany body. So, while all of the frequencies are fully covered and robust, this guy will always throw in a dose of higher pitch. The lack of fret noise is another feature that we really like. This is a common problem with guitars in this price bracket, but we’re talking about Martin here, and the Backpacker delivers on all fronts!
This is one of the best travel guitars available on the market today for the price. But the most important thing to ask yourself is whether or not you require a parlor guitar. These guitars are designed for comfort and ergonomics, and a full-sized six-string will deliver a more powerful punch. However, if you travel frequently and require a guitar with you, you can’t go wrong with this guy. I give it a thumbs up from here!
