Unboxing & Review

While the Strat and Telecaster are unquestionably Fender’s most popular models, the lightweight, laid-back Mustang has been favored by a slew of professionals throughout the years, including Bilinda Butcher and Kurt Cobain. The Bullet Mustang HH from Fender’s Squier branch allows you to join that list for much under $200. Let’s have a look at this one!

The Bullet Mustang HH is a tonal powerhouse that punches above its weight, designed for players looking for a cheap, stylish, and flexible instrument. A slim and lightweight body, an easy-to-play “C”-shaped neck profile, and a low 24″ scale length that is ideal for little hands are among the highlights. This model also features a string-through-body hardtail bridge for excellent tuning stability and a pair of humbucking pickups with three-way switching for sonic variation.

The tone on this Mustang is quite sweet for a basic guitar! The two stock humbuckers are hot enough to cut through a mix of instruments and offer superb tones for everything from jazz and indie to 90s punk rock. To create a thick, heavy, current metal sound, you’d have to push it, but anything up to that point is really impressive. The lack of single-coil hum on such a low-cost guitar is also a plus.

Mustangs have long been regarded as one of the world’s most reliable workhorses, and the Squier Bullet model maintains that tradition. Of course, there is space for improvement, but at less than $200, it’s difficult to find fault with this excellent axe. It’s a great addition to any collection, even if it’s only for practice and jamming, and the modding potential is obvious.

For shipping, the guitar was well-protected. I’ve been playing guitar for over 25 years, and this Strat outperforms any old model Fender Strat I’ve ever played. It doesn’t feel cheap in the least! The frets are smooth and the movement is superb. There is very minimal setup required. The sound is also excellent. It shouldn’t be too bright or too dark. For Blues, Country, and Rock, this is a fantastic sound.

Sounds fantastic after tuning with Ubertuner! Just keep in mind that this is a beginner guitar. Full-size guitars are best for experienced or older players, therefore this is a fantastic guitar for beginners. My Vox Valvetronix VT20X 1X8 combination amp sounds fantastic! The fit and finish are excellent!
