Yamaha always has a model to offer, whether it’s a high-end dreadnought or a cheap travel guitar – and the parlor guitar market is no exception. The CSF1M is a cheap electro-acoustic parlor guitar that is quickly becoming one of the most popular parlors on the market. It is part of the newly introduced CSF Series. Let’s take a look at why.

The Yamaha CSF1M is suited for both the road and the destination, combining the flexibility of a travel guitar with the focused tone characteristics of a parlor guitar. The solid Sitka spruce top’s overall resonance is increased by special forward-shifted scalloped bracing, resulting in a remarkably huge acoustic and amplified sound.

The Yamaha CSF series raises the bar for smaller acoustic guitars. The 600mm scale length, which is 34mm shorter than a full-size acoustic, has the same feel as a regular acoustic but is more comfortable. The CSF has a rich, deep, uplifting tone thanks to mahogany and Sitka spruce construction, all-solid woods on Csf3, and an all-new bracing arrangement. The passive zero impact pickup offers gig-ready versatility and a plugged-in tone that is natural and lively. The sturdy bag that comes with the kit makes transferring CSF a breeze. CSF brings you a new level of acoustic inspiration whether you’re playing at home, on stage, or on the road.

The CSF1M is a wonderful midrange parlor speaker. The combination of solid spruce and laminated mahogany produces a warm, well-balanced tone with remarkable low-end for such a little instrument. This is due in part to the significantly larger waist, which aids the unplugged projection. The sound through an amp is also rather decent, albeit the output isn’t as powerful or loud as you might expect from a passive pickup.

It’s easy to see why the CSF1M has become a go-to parlor guitar for so many players, despite the fact that it’s only been around for a short time. It’s a terrific alternative for everyone from novices to full-sized singer-songwriters who just want the vintage sound of old America at a price that doesn’t take much attention, striking the proper mix between price, quality, and extras.

I’m a seasoned musician with a home studio who was looking for a little acoustic guitar. This has a wonderful balanced response for a little body. It’s also perfect for recording when you need an acoustic to sit in the mix without adding too much muck to the mix. I went with the sunburst version because it was less expensive. It includes a lovely gig bag. The finish is flawless, and it performed admirably right out of the box. Recommended!

Yamaha produces high-quality products. My guitar came with a fantastic factory setup, and the gig bag is a great bonus. The guitar appears and sounds as if it could be more expensive. I don’t think investing additional money will help if you can’t make this instrument sing.
